Interior Designer's Opinion

Interior Designer's Opinion
The chaise longue belongs to the collection Traffic by Magis, that has been awarded with an honourable mention by the international panel during the XXIV edition of the Compasso D'oro ADI 2016 contest.
The chaise longue is characterised by polyester painted steel tubing that looks like the style of the earlier tubular structure furniture and draws aerial belt around the padded cushions. Along with the soft filling, the comfort is guaranteed also by the particular incline of seat and back cushions that make the chaise longue suitable for sitting room, relax or waiting halls.
The minimalist design is enriched by a handy acrylic stone armrest tray, the simple layout is full of history and personality, because its vintage style has been revisited with modern accent.

Konstantin GrcicKonstantin Grcic
Konstantin Grcic (Munich, 1965) is an international renowned German designer and is nowadays one of the greatest contemporary artists around. After an internship as a cabinet-maker at Parnham College in England, he studied design at Royal College of Art in London, acquiring both practical and theoretical skills. He founded its own studio "Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design" in Munich in 1991 when he was only 26 years old, where he started developing furniture and lighting system projects for great contemporary design companies such as Cappellini, Driade, Flos, Magis, Moroso, Muji and so on...
Konstantin Grcic creates highly minimal and simple industrial products, focusing on the materials used as well as the essence of the item itself. His main characteristic lies in a formal rigour contrasted by touches of humour and extravagance: his projects often feature well defined geometric lines, clear cuts and asymmetric shapes, as well as in his search for lightness, clearness and innovation.
The majority of his products won several international prizes and awards: May-Day lamp designed for Flos has been chosen for the permanent collection of Museum of Modern Art in New York and won Compasso d'Oro in 2001.

Magis history has been characterized by winning products acclaimed by critics, mass media and public.

The Venetian company was born in 1976 and in few years it astonished the market with original furniture pieces, up-to-date materials and innovative techniques.
1984 is the year of Step ladder. Initially it was completely ignored by the design field judged not worthy of a furniture store; in the following years this judgement turned out to be completely wrong since Magis sold a million copies of this ladder becoming one of their most acclaimed classic piece coming with a design which has been copied worldwide by top manufacturing companies.
The 90s welcomed new famous co-workers such as the designer Jasper Morrison, who created classic iconic products which appear now inside museums such as MoMa, New York. Lyra stools and Bombo, the extraordinary success of Stefano Giovannoni, were created during those years. From this moment on, the multiple Magis achievements brought them to display their own products in the most famous contemporary art museums: London, Hamburg, New York.
Since 2000, the year of Air-Chair designed by Morrison, Magis has been producing furniture items made of plastic or recyclable / recycling materials and using techniques such as gas injection or rotational moulding. In 2004 Me Too collection was born, a collection designed for children from 2 to 6 years. Many of these products won and still win several internation prizes such as Compasso d'Oro in 2011 for Steelwood Chair, a project by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec.
