Description
Spider is a lamp by Oluce designed by Joe Colombo. Designed in 1965, the series consists of a single illuminating body in stove-enamelled metal mounted on a vertical chrome-plated rod, which in turn is supported by a metal base to match the lampshade. A melamine joint also allows the reflector to be tilted and repositioned according to usage requirements. The Spider family consists of a table lamp, in two different sizes, and a 140 cm high floor lamp: all models allow the customisation of the diffuser in different colours.
Spider is not a simple design accessory, but a true piece of history: it won the Compasso d'Oro award in 1967 and is part of the permanent collections of the Milan Triennale, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Kunstmuseum in Düsseldorf and the "Neue Sammlung" Museum in Munich. In 1972, it also contributed to the affirmation of Italian design through its presence in the important exhibition 'Italy: the New Domestic Landscape' at MoMA in New York.
