Project Apartment 200423

Client's request
I am renovating my apartment and would like a complete interior design project to furnish the living room and master bedroom in shades of blue. I like this colour very much and would like the entire interior design to play with different shades of blue. The walls and ceiling are currently white, but I am not excluding the possibility of painting the room. The floor is parquet with light wood planks. The living room will only be used as a lounge with a relaxation and dining area; the kitchen is planned in a separate adjacent room. When planning the living area, I would like you to provide space for a black piano I already own.

Interior Designer's Comments
As requested, we developed a project for an apartment with furnishings in shades of blue, to which we combined the colours, white and beige. Blue is the great chromatic protagonist of the entire house, chosen in different shades that coexist perfectly, balanced by the passepartout white that fades into the warmer beige colour. We have chosen to include few blue furnishings and to highlight them through matching colours and the use of lighting and effect points.

The focal point of the open space is the wall decorated with blue and gold wallpaper featuring geometric patterns with octagons of different sizes. In this wallpaper, the dark blue provides the background for the geometric pattern in prominence. This design touch embellishes the wall firstly and, as a reflection, the entire living space.
Initially in our project renderings, we had envisioned a wallpaper in light blue, sky blue and beige tones, but - at the suggestion of the customer - the choice fell on the other model, capable of transforming the wall into an accent wall that gives depth to the entire room.
This same wall supports the wall unit that consists of three Bruno Oak melamine linear shelves and a long suspended base unit with drop-down doors and push-pull openings equiped with a LED light system. Everything is positioned in such a way as to leave a large empty space for a flat TV set that can be wall-mounted.
Opposite is a three-seater sofa with chaise longue in blue fabric and matte black metal feet. The chosen model is extremely comfortable and versatile, suitable both as a resting sofa and as a conversation sofa, featuring a reclining backrest with adjustable headrest cushions and folding armrests.  A sofa with customisable comfort.
The relaxation area is completed by square decorative cushions, a set of two tall, narrow design tables to be used both on the front and on the side of the sofa, and a white carpet with black decorations and fringes.

As requested by the customer, we provided a space for the piano. We had planned for the piano to be placed against the wall, on a portion of the wall wide enough to comfortably accommodate it, in an excellent position to ensure passage and walkability in the room. To the side of the piano, on the other, smaller portion of the wall nearby, we have positioned a tall matte lacquered Ocean Blue coloured cupboard with U-shaped engraved fronts, which rests on a Champagne coloured metal lacquered base. A sideboard to be used as a bar cabinet, with a shelf and rack for hanging glasses, with internal vertical LED bars equipped with a sensor to switch on when the door is opened.

When furnishing this living room with a relaxation and dining area and choosing the best furniture arrangement, we took into account the layout of the house and the proximity between the rooms. It was essential to provide the dining table as close as possible to the kitchen. This is why we have reserved the dining area for the space immediately at the entrance of the house, in a position that is not immediately visible from the doorstep due to a portion of the wall designed ad hoc.
Here there is an elegant fixed rectangular table 240 x 100 cm with a transparent crystal glass top and structure in travertine stone marble. Serving the table are eight elegant cream beige velvet chairs with bronze stone lacquered metal legs. The upholstered seat and the medium-height curved and enveloping backrest guarantee the chair's excellent comfort.
Behind the dining area, leaning against the wall, is a modular bookcase in Bruno Oak melamine with numerous shelves, a lower row of baskets and three square-shaped open compartments. It is precisely these three maxi cubes that catch the eye: they appear as prominent elements in stark contrast to the structure due to their finishes, colours and dimensions. In matte lacquered Ocean Blue colour, with LED spotlights in Brown aluminium, with greater depth than the bookcase that houses them.

The second part of the project was the design of the master bedroom. In order to meet the client's wishes, we created a blue and beige bedroom by carefullyly combining these two colours. We chose to place a wardrobe with a TV in front of the bed and bedside tables, thus leaving the wall with the window and the wall opposite free. We designed a wardrobe with hinged doors that occupies the entire wall, a 5-door wardrobe interspersed with a large bridge compartment with wall units, space for a TV and drawers. We chose to provide height fillers to reach the total height up to the ceiling and thus create a customised piece of furniture, aesthetically beautiful in all its details. In front of the large, spacious wardrobe is a king-size bed with a simple lift storage box, in grey fabric with Titanium metal blade feet. The distinctive headboard features two-tone double-face cushions that allow the grey of the entire bed to be combined with blue. Grey/blue colour combination also proposed for the two suspended bedside tables with one drawer.
Wallpaper is also present in the bedroom, chosen for this room by the customer, with a floral pattern in shades of blue with white and gold nuances.
The colour blue is therefore also the main protagonist of the sleeping area: chosen for the wallpaper, curtains, TV compartment panel, bedside table tops and the inner lining of the headboard cushions.

The whole project has been meticulously designed, both in terms of colours and the organisation of spaces. This proves that furnishing with the colour blue is possible, without necessarily blurring the marine theme and without turning the house into a beach house.
